David Rolnick is incoming Assistant Professor of Computer Science at McGill University and Mila. He is also co-founder and chair of Climate Change AI, an organization that facilitates meaningful applications of AI to climate change. David served as NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, after receiving his Ph.D. from MIT in Applied Mathematics. He is a former US-Germany Fulbright Scholar and NSF Graduate Research Fellow.

Synopsis

Tackling Climate Change with Machine Learning

In this talk, we explore how machine learning can be a powerful tool in helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to a changing climate. From smart grids to disaster management, we examine high impact problems where existing gaps can be filled by machine learning, in collaboration with other fields.
