The "The Future Design Insitute e.v. is a nonprofit organization based in Ettlingen (Baden-Württemberg). It conducts research and participates in the promotion of new emerging technologies and their dissemination and assimilation by a wide audience through the work of professionals. As its central mission, it will serve as a laboratory and observatory for the arts, science and new applications of the latest digital technologies, thus promoting the role of people in anticipating social change and making democratically accessible the technologies of the future to people around the world.
The main objectives are to draw broad attention to these technologies and generate debate and interest to encourage their use by independent artists and unrepresented groups in the community, to visualize new artistic practices within a critical global cultural dialogue, and the potential recognize these technologies for shaping and strengthening the cultural identity of minorities.
Among other things, the nonprofit organisation organizes events, symposia, festivals and exhibitions and produces media art, films, VR and 360 degree panoramas.
